Bajar la Madre /

El Pomo

Bajar la Madre, also known as Bajar el Pomo, is a traditional Canarian abdominal massage that works gently with the womb, belly, and pelvic area to bring the body back into balance.

In Canarian tradition, “la madre” or “el pomo” refers to an energetic and physical centre of the body, often connected to the womb space, digestion, emotions, and the nervous system. When this centre feels “out of place” or blocked, it may be experienced as tension, heaviness, emotional overwhelm, digestive discomfort, menstrual imbalance, or a feeling of being disconnected from one’s body.

During a session, the practitioner works with gentle, intentional touch around the abdomen, lower belly, hips, and sometimes the back, helping the body soften, release tension, and return to a more grounded state.

This practice is not only physical. It is deeply connected to emotional and energetic wellbeing. The belly often holds unprocessed emotions, stress, fear, grief, and old memories. Through slow, intuitive touch, the body is invited to feel safe enough to release what it no longer needs to carry.

Clients often describe the experience as grounding, comforting, and deeply nurturing.

It’s common to experience:

  • a sense of emotional release
  • softness in the belly and womb space
  • deeper connection to the body
  • improved grounding and calm
  • a feeling of being held and cared for
  • more spaciousness around the heart, pelvis, and abdomen

Although every session is unique, Bajar la Madre / Bajar el Pomo tends to leave clients with a deep sense of reconnection - as if something within the body has been gently brought back home.

This treatment can also be blended with Reiki for a deeper, more holistic experience - working not only with the physical body, but also with the energetic and emotional layers that may be held in the belly, womb space, and nervous system..
