What is Rapè?
Rapé (ha-peh) is a sacred Amazonian tobacco snuff used for grounding, clarity, and emotional release.
For centuries, it has been part of indigenous ceremonies, helping people settle into the body, quiet the mind, and connect with the Earth before entering deeper work.
What is Rapé?
Rapé is a finely powdered blend made from Nicotiana Rustica, tree ashes, and specific medicinal plants.
Each tribe creates its own unique recipe, often kept secret and prepared through a slow, ceremonial process.
It is applied through the nose using a Tepi (when given by a practitioner) or a Kuripe (self-application).
What does it do?
Rapé helps:
• clear the mind
• release emotional and energetic blockages
• ground the body
• increase focus and presence
• support detoxification and deep cleansing
Many people experience a centred, steady calm, a return to the breath and to themselves.
How the ceremony works
Receiving Rapé is a ritual of trust and intention.
There is a sacred exchange between giver and receiver:
the moment of the blow represents a small death and rebirth - a cleansing that creates space for clarity, grounding, and transformation.
After receiving, the body may release mucus or heaviness.
This is part of the cleansing ritual, helping remove stagnant energy and emotional residue.
Where I learned how to serve it
I offer Rapé with deep respect and in the way I was taught by an indigenous healer from the Inga community in Colombia.
This medicine carries the wisdom of the forest, and I honour the tradition with care, prayer, and intention.
